Chang Shifu, pen name Changzhen. Born in 1961, he is from Longxi, Gansu Province. He is a senior high school art teacher with a bachelor’s degree. He is currently a member of the (International) China Artists Association and the Gansu Artists Association. He is an honorary council member of Beijing Yihai Danqing Calligraphy and Painting Academy, an invited creative committee member of the Cultural Research Center of the Ministry of Culture, a member of the China Education Television Calligraphy and Painting Academy, a member of the New Artistic Group Calligraphy and Painting Committee of the China Artists Association, an honorary curator of the National Art Committee Calligraphy and Painting Museum, and was awarded the bronze plaque "National Gift Art Master Chang Shifu Studio" by the Starlight Film and Television Park International Brand Federation of CCTV. Chang Shifu was selected as one of the 2016 China’s Best Brands* Brand Influence Calligraphers and Painters. He is one of the 30 influential figures in the contemporary art world, specializing in freehand figure painting. His works emphasize momentum, value spiritual charm, and follow nature, pursuing the essence of poetry, calligraphy, and painting, with profound artistic conception, robust momentum, and bold characteristics. His works have won gold, silver, and bronze awards in national exhibitions and competitions.
In October 2007, he was awarded the "Gold Medal for Art in the Category of Human Contribution" and the title of "China’s Meritorious Figure in Intangible Cultural Heritage" by UNESCO. He was also selected for the "Literary and Artistic Yearbook" of the Chinese Academy of Art.
CCTV-2’s appraiser magazine recommended him in the May 2012 issue of Contemporary Masters. His portraits and works were included in national thematic stamps and the China-themed postcard album celebrating the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, with 12 sets of stamps issued nationwide. In 2023, he was awarded the title of "China Meritorious Artist" by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and featured on the official website of Meritorious Artists. Five of his works were selected for the 2024 Paris Olympic Cultural International Art Exchange Exhibition hosted by the NGO Sino-French Cultural Exchange Promotion Center under the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, where they won the gold medal.
